Susan L. Sparks, PT, is the president and founder of Sparks Therapy Services, PLLC. She has over 20 years of extensive experience with pediatric and geriatric physical therapy. Known for her dynamic and upbeat approach to treatment, Susan has a unique ability to motivate patients without pushing them beyond their limits.
After a life-changing injury she suffered as a teenager, Susan decided to become a physical therapist and received her degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Her own journey through physical therapy has given her the ability to truly empathize with her clients and their families and caregivers. An experienced manager, she has provided physical therapy through Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) programs, home health agencies, outpatient clinics and for her own private clients.
Susan is Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT) certified and has extensive knowledge in adaptive equipment and orthotics. She is also an educational lecturer for the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Texas Women's University on topics ranging from NDT and lower extremity orthotics to the role of physical therapy in ECI.
A member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the NDT Association, she is very active with a number of community organizations that benefit children and adults with special needs and their families.
Physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech- language therapy are three of the most beneficial services available to children with disabilities. But taking a child with special needs into a clinical setting is often a challenge for the child as well as the caregiver.
There are a number of advantages to therapy delivered in the patient's own natural environment, including:
- Children are more relaxed in an environment they know, allowing them to progress more quickly
- Therapists work around the patient's schedule
- More members of the family/caregiver unit may be able to participate in support of the therapy
STS offers these and other advantages by bringing professional and quality services to our client's home, daycare center, school, or other similar setting in the DFW Metroplex.
STS provides physical, occupational, and speech therapy to adults of all ages in the comfort of their homes. We serve the DFW Metroplex and its surrounding communities. With hospitals discharging patients quicker, the need for Home Health Therapy is becoming more essential.
